For this 2 hour session, the first hour consisted of having a class critic to which our class mates and two teachers would tell us what they thought was good about our film so far, and what needed improving / changing.
By watching other group’s videos before ours, we didn’t really have the confidence to get up in front of the class and show them our video as we thought our one wasn’t very good compared to theirs. In the end I’m glad we had to do this because we did get some really good comments back. We got told that our camera work was good, and some of the shots worked very well, especially the inside fridge shot and the feet shot of Liza and the stalker walking down the alleyway. They also really liked the use of the pan technique we used down the alleyway when shooting back to the stalker. We then got told what we needed to improve on to achieve a better grade which was to speed up the shot when Liza walks down the stairs of the alleyway, to put our credits in between the point of view shots (possibly) and to show all of the credits before Liza reaches her house, also cut up some of the house scenes to make it look tighter and more chilling and thriller, and to finally add in matching music (daunting music). I took a note of all of this so that we could begin work on it straight away.
After the critic, the next hour we planned on doing some more editing. Harry finished off the heart beat track while myself and Ella decided on adding in the soundtrack with the suspense on the alleyway shot where the camera pans round. This took me and Ella a while to do because we needed to transfer a 4ma to an mp3. We ended up asking for help and used an online converter on a website. We then managed to add in the soundtrack to the alleyway scene, but decided it didn’t really fit well to which we then ran out of time and decided to carry on the next session and get Harrys and Alex’s opinion.
Overall, tenth day editing and the critic went reasonably well, could of gone better, but it really did make myself and Ella think that we need to hurry up and get the editing done to make it better than what it already is!
